The Year
Twelve drivers. Four seasons. One year that will quietly change the next twenty.
Most driving courses give you a day.
A day is enough to learn something. It isn't enough to change anything.
Habits don't form in a day. Trust between a coach and a driver doesn't build in a day. The car is the car — but cold roads in winter ask different questions of it than warm roads in summer, and the driver who has the answers in one season often doesn't have them in the other. A sunny Saturday in spring tells you about a certain set of driving conditions, and one version of yourself. The Year tells you about all four.
The Drive-craft Year is built differently. Four 1-to-1 sessions across the seasons. Same coach. Day and night. By the end of your Year, you will not be a slightly better driver. You will be a profoundly different driver. And your car will feel like a different car, because you'll finally be asking it the questions it was built to answer. And all within a select, supportive community of like-minded driving enthusiasts.
Winter
Quieter roads. Slippery conditions. Wonderful learning opportunities.
Spring
Longer days of spirited driving. Time for a skill and drill spring-clean.
Summer
Happy, grippy times. Time to focus on what matters most to you.
Autumn
Time to prepare for winter, slipping and sliding at Millbrook.

"Thank you for a great day at Millbrook learning how to handle my car in a much more advanced way, and explore its limits in conditions that are difficult to replicate during normal driving.
"By the end of the day, I felt much more confident in controlling the car when circumstances demand more than many drivers might expect. One of the key takeaways was understanding how much I could trust the car’s automated systems for protection. Learning how to manage the same situations without those systems (manually) took things to a whole new level.
"The experience was only topped by the opportunity to drive at high speeds on the bowl — absolutely thrilling! Thanks again for another excellent day."
Why we cap it at twelve
Â
Because thirteen is the number that ruins it.
Twelve allows for us all to get to know each other, forming a community of motoring mates.
In your first season, you’ll be the newest of your driven dozen for a while; a season later, someone newer will be learning from you. We're in this together.
Â
Winter
Â
Whilst Autumn's season is about pushing limits - your car's and yours - at marvellous Millbrook Proving Ground, your Year's winter season is about smooth progress and suitable safety margins when the going gets slippery.
On roads emptied by the season, and in conditions that punish bad habits, a later start to the day will allow for some driving into darkness - an opportunity to explore what's different about driving mastery at night.
Given winter's challenges, an exploration of the mechanics of defensive driving might be in order, too. Each member's Year is tailored to their individual needs and dreams.
Spring
Â
Like a spring uncoiled, 'tis the season to unleash more of your car's performance, and to encourage the engine to sing. It's time to spring-clean your systems and skills.
We'll take time to expose any rust that may have set in, polishing your performance in service of your goals. We'll explore techniques for adding some sparkle to your steering and use of the other controls.
As the countryside comes out of hibernation, we'll compensate for thickening hedges restricting cross-views through bends by exploring a variety of techniques to assess bends. We'll crack cornering in the broadest sense, addressing positioning and priorities on the approach, and thoughtful lines throughout. If you've never quite got your head around the three stages of limit-point analysis, now's the time.
Summer
Â
Through three counties and two countries, we'll enjoy a long drive on the kind of roads petrolheads are quitely obsessed with.
You may wish to explore overtaking to help maintain safe, spirited progress through the countryside. From choosing a single-stage or 3-stage approach, you'll learn to safely catch, match and despatch slower movers using the half-distance principle and other tactics. Squeezing and easing the pedals, and hinting at steering, you'll likely want to trial new techniques for developing flow and steering a safer course from apex to crest.
By the end of summer you'll have shifted things you didn't know were shiftable.
Autumn
Â
As temperatures and leaves fall, now's the time to prepare for winter with track time at Millbrook Proving Ground. Millbrook's tracks provide opportunities for you to develop your understanding of your car's dynamics and ADAS systems' capabilities and limitations.
Hopefully, it'll be wet, as skid recognition and recovery is on the agenda. Despite ESC (Electronic Stability Control), many drivers are at first surprised at how accessible understeer remains. This session will reveal to you how to get the best out of ABS (Anti-lock Braking System) and ESC, aiding collision avoidance on the road. In a similar vein, would you like to explore how best to safely execute emergency lane-changes at motorway speeds? Or perhaps you'd like to explore trail braking, emergency braking in bends from speed, or heel and toe gear-changing?
After our track time, you'll drive home with new-found clarity and confidence, and additional tools for your burgeoning toolbox.

How to enrol
Â
Twelve seats is twelve seats, so we both need to know it's the right room before either of us enters. The way we do that is simple, and it's the way we do everything at Drive-craft: on the road, in your car, with you driving.Â
Step 1: Book a Drive-craft Morning (or Day or Weekend) Session.
A morning's diagnostic would establish a baseline. A day would involve a deeper dive.
Step 2: Drive.
By the end of your Session, we'll both know whether The Year is for you. You'll know because you'll have felt the coaching. I'll know because I'll have driven with you. No call, no questionnaire, no sales pitch.
Step 3: If it's a fit, The Year  seat is yours.
Book a SessionAlready certain you want The Year?
Â
You don't have to start with a Session. Some will want to enrol in The Year directly — usually the ones who've already been waiting for a coaching relationship like this.
Founding members joining in 2026 will enjoy reduced rates. From 01-01-27, Session rates step up to their steady-state levels.
